Juan Molina began this church Easter 2009, but our 2009 offering had already been
allocated. The third largest allocation this year is our Cambodian mission, which has baptized seventy since 2008, but had received less funding than some of our language ministries. Allocations of $2.5k each are for Disaster Relief expenses, Evelyn Henderson’s Hispanic summer missionaries, and our new Hispanic work in Woodruff.

CHURCHES seeking PASTORS
Beaumont, Bethany
From the Director
Since a Christ follower is to be a fisher of men (Mt. 4:19/Mk. 1:17/Lk. 5:10), our
church or ministry is like the boat, without which our fishing would be limited to the
shallows near the shore. But Jesus says to “Launch out into the deep and let down our nets for a catch,” (Lk. 5:4). Our church or ministry is a structure and system to do this, but
the schools of fish in the deep are more than 1 church or ministry can handle (5:6). For big catches, we must work with our “partners in other boats” (5.7).
Cooperative Programs & Associations are ways we have always done this. We refined our purpose to “Networking churches together, in what we can’t do alone.” Partnering is the
operative strategy in Kingdom work. Economic necessities are hastening this, as the days are gone when a church or ministry could afford to do everything by itself. But Jesus has always
wanted His body to work together, as unified witness to a lost world (Jn. 17:20-23). Current examples:
• Keith Davis had a burden to reach Broome High, and partnered with nearby churches in Challenge 07, at Crossroads Church. Challenge 08 partnered with the Christian Foundation to have the last night at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, and 3 nights there in Challenge 09.
Challenge 10 wanted Kirk Cameron but could not afford him, so they had me email partnership offers to 2 ministries. CPC accepted, as they had tried to get Kirk for an abstinence program but he “only does evangelistic events.”
• National Day of Prayer used to be a morning observance in the Network building, then we partnered at Southside for more capacity and visibility. Next, we partnered
with the noonday service at The Beacon. This year, a broad partnership is sponsoring a variety of events in a week-long observance of the Day of Prayer.
• Our Collegiate Ministry needed a place to “office” between the sale of their building near Wofford and the move to their new one new USC-Upstate. We hosted them rent-free as our
partner, then SCBC sent us a year-end check for this, after we had to make deep budget cuts starting 11-1-09.
• We identified reaching internationals here as one of our flagship ministries, but realized we lacked the infrastructure to do this. Your partnership makes Kaleidoscope available for those who can worship in English. Ethnic American Network will help us on a broader scale.
We carried 15 to their Ethnic Ministry Summit this year in Boston. We will host their regional meeting this May 25, their national retreat January 6-8, and their national
Summit in 2012.
I could go on and on, which is how God wants us to go with partnering. Thank you for the financial support and many other ways you partner with us to make possible our Network
missions and ministries. But our nation, state and county populations grow more lost each year! So we must all find many more ways to partner with other churches and ministries, as we
launch out into the deep for the great catch of souls for which our Lord is waiting and wanting.

you can go to www.spartanburgcountybaptistnetwork.org and look at the 2010 Mission Booklet under the month of June, or develop your own list or mix and match. Have fun and share your stories.

**RE-WRITE ** Disaster Relief Call-Out Update:
We are continually trying to keep our records of trained volunteers as accurate as possible. Please help us with this process by calling and informing me of any recent training you’ve had within the past three years. From 2010 forward, no one will be allowed to serve on DR
call-outs unless they have a badge reflecting a date of training within three years of issuance of that badge. With the onset of hurricane season in June, I want to ensure all of our DR volunteers are prepared and ready to serve when called upon. If your information is
not current, you may not be called, and therefore unable to serve. If you have any doubts about your status or have not been called or notified in some way of DR matters in the last three years, please call me at 582-8330 to ensure your contact info is correct and you are
assigned to the right area of service. Your information may be incorrect or have somehow been deleted from our system. We are now clustering everyone with a specific team in each area of service. Call-outs are now being made by using Calling Post messages. Please listen to and respond quickly to the message with your decision.
Does anyone know of a private lake we could use in September for Family & Friends Cookout/Fishing Day?
If so, please call me at the Network so I can explore this possibility and make plans for this event.
Hispanic Ministry Update
Andres – Telling the Story
Two months have passed since information on Andres was shared through the Network
newsletter. At that time he was making plans to return to his homeland of Honduras to devote
his remaining years to Kingdom work. The church family of El Buen Pastor commissioned him
for that ministry prior to his departure. The church family has never failed to pray for him each time they have gathered since that time. Andres phones weekly to give updates, to share prayer requests and praises for God’s mighty hand at work. Last week he phoned me with a request that I fly to Honduras and baptize several new Christians. After thanking him for his confidence, I declined. I shared with him that the Great Commission did not divide its mandate. Just as Hispanic Missions, God has led him to return to his people to preach and teach His Word, the mandate for him to baptize was included. I admonished him to be faithful to the whole mission of Jesus Christ. Somewhat in shock and amazement, he said, “OK, I’ll do it.” As an IMB missionary, I always encourage the young evangelists and pastors to
never rely on me but in everything trust the Lord of the Harvest. Andres has little education but he walks with God and loves Him dearly. He spends long hours daily in His Word – reading and crying over it. He is a man of prayer. I am confident there will be a harvest in Honduras.
Andres tells me there is a great spiritual hunger among those of his motherland. Though he is a senior, almost the age of Moses when he started his wilderness ministry, he is full of energy and devotion. He already has two groups of people he meets with. In the second week, one group already had fifteen in it. The other group is larger. Now I wait for word on his first baptism. Andres consistently pleas for prayer that he may have the wisdom and
vision to be on God’s mission God’s way and that God’s Spirit will be his motivating power. My heart is full of praise to God for the power of the Gospel and that He continues to call out the simple in heart to serve in His fields of harvest. Though Andres seeks prayer warriors from among the Hispanics, I would like to extend the range of prayer warriors to any from the Christian community at large. When God points His heart in a specific direction, He always calls His faithful children to undergird His vision with prayer support. Herein is an invitation to stand in the hedgerow in Honduras for God’s glory.
BAPTIST COLLEGIATE MINISTRY - Tracy Turner
I have written about a young man before that came to Christ about two years ago. His name is Yoshi and he was of a different religion. Since coming to Christ he still gets a tear in his eye when he talks about God’s grace. He works at a restaurant and it happens to be my favorite
place to eat. Yoshi introduced me to one of his fellow workers, Uma. Uma is from another country and came to America to make some money to support his wife and two children back home. We became friends quickly. Uma is a delightful man and it did not take long to realize he was searching. He found out I was a minister and began asking me questions about Christianity. This friendship went on for at least six months. We had Yoshi and Uma out to our house for a meal and we had a great time together. We then discovered that Uma BCMwas going back to his homeland. Yoshi and I met with him at a local McDonalds. Uma told us his whole story and we were able to share the full story of Christ with him. Yoshi prayed with Uma and wept as
we saw God’s Spirit bring new life to Uma. After dropping Uma off at his house, Yoshi and I worshipped our Great God together in the car. As I think about how God worked in this story, I celebrate and I am convicted at the same time. We celebrate how God is at work. I am convicted because I don’t have enough “Umas” in my life. We long for the day when we are seeing lost students come to Christ weekly because we are intentionally building relationships to share Him with others.
PLEASE NOTE: The Network Office has a supply of the newly published history of the Spartanburg County WMU 1912-2009. If you would like a copy, please contact the office at 582-8330. Each church will receive 1 copy free of charge. Individuals may obtain a copy for a small donation to offset the cost of publication.

Claudia’s Corner
Blessed Easter and Christ is Risen!
My prayer is that the joy of the resurrected Christ surrounded you and your family during the
holidays. There are several examples of great news regarding Internationals. During the month
of March, several ladies from Kaleidoscope Multi-Ethnic Fellowship and two international
students attended the Just Give Me Jesus Conference led by Ann Graham Lotz. One of the students from Rwanda accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior during that event. We are praising the Lord for His great power in this young woman’s heart and we ask Him for guidance and wisdom as she learns more about Him and His ways.
At the end of March, just at the beginning of Spring Break, several international students from Wofford and one from Converse College attended the International Student Day event organized by the Baptist Collegiate Ministry in Columbia, SC. We had a really great time visiting the Columbia Zoo and Botanical Gardens fellowshipping together and spending time in nature. This was also a great opportunity for the students to hear the Resurrection
Eggs Story. Some of these young people have come from the other side of the world – Australia, China, France, Thailand – and have never heard the Gospel. Please pray for them, that the seed that was planted will bring forth fruit in Christ’s Kingdom.
