Our Past

Since the original records were destroyed in a fire, Converse Baptist Church has no record of the exact date of their organization.  However, we do know the church was organized prior to 1903, a very memorable year in Converse history.  On June 6 of this year the residents of Converse and nearby Clifton experienced the most deadly and devastating flood in South Carolina history. Many lives were lost, many homes were destroyed, the local mills were damaged beyond repair, and the church was disorganized as a result. The church was reorganized in 1907 and by the grace of God is still moving forward 100 years later.

Our Present

Like the residents of Jerusalem who rebuilt the wall under the leadership of Nehemiah, so also the members of Converse Baptist Church have “a mind to work.”  Our church is filled with “Kingdom Builders,” who aren’t afraid to get their feet wet and their hands dirty.

One kingdom building ministry among many that God is really blessing is our Bus and Breakfast Ministry. Every Sunday morning several volunteers gather early in our church kitchen to cook breakfast for the 40+ children that are picked up on our bus. It is exciting to see how God is working through this ministry and the various other kingdom building ministries of our church.

Our Future

Our plan is to keep on kingdom building until the King returns. To do this we must maintain a Great Commitment to the Great Commandments (Mt.22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Mt.28:19-20), then and only then can we be a Great Church.

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:20-21
